T-fal Ultimate Nonstick Cookware Set

For the first review on our best non stick cookware without Teflon list, we are going to be doing a review of a cookware set from a brand that probably doesn’t need much of an introduction, which is T-fal.

If you have ever shopped for cookware before then you have seen this brand pop up at least once before. They have earned their fame by producing reliable, high-quality pieces of cookware.

They also manage to make good nonstick options that don’t rely on Teflon. This is why the first review that we are doing is of the T-fal Ultimate Nonstick Cookware Set.

Given what the topic of this article is, we suppose that we should start off this review by talking about the nonstick aspects of this cookware. As you might imagine, this T-fal Ultimate Nonstick Cookware Set is able to achieve a nonstick cooking surface without using Teflon, which is extremely impressive.

Furthermore, the nonstick surface is actually resistant to scratching, which means that you can get a lot of use out of this cookware. The big problem with a lot of cookware out there is that the non stick coating starts to get scratched and then it wears off, which makes the cookware ineffective. That isn’t an issue with this T-fal cookware.

Something that is great about T-fal cookware is that it comes with a unique feature that is only found on this brand of cookware, which is the patented heat spot. As any of you who have used T-fal cookware know, the spot turns glowing red to let you know when the pan has reached the right temperature.

This, alongside the nonstick coating, is useful for cooking anything that is sensitive and needs very precise cooking.

  • Long-lasting cookware.
  • Comes with 2 pans and lids.
  • Unique T-fal features like the thermo ring.
  • Teflon free, scratch resistant nonstick coating.

  • No option to just buy one piece of cookware.

Kock System CS Copper Nonstick Frying Pan

For this next review on our best nonstick cookware without Teflon list, lets evaluate the very first single piece of cookware on our product list in the form of the Kock System CS Copper Nonstick Frying Pan.

This is an important piece of cookware for a variety of reasons, but the main one that we want to hone in on is the fact that this is a copper coated piece of cookware. If you are looking for nonstick alternatives to Teflon, then one of the materials that you need to become familiar with is copper. It is one of the most common materials for non-Teflon pans to use.

The reason why it is a big deal that this is a copper frying pan is simple, copper is a great nonstick material and it is one of the best alternatives to Teflon. While copper coatings can vary a lot in quality, you won’t have any reasons to doubt the quality of the copper coating on the Kock System CS Cooper Nonstick Frying Pan. It is extremely well-made and it is going to last for a long time.

At the same time, we don’t just want to focus on the copper coating of this pan, as there are other good aspects to it as well. For example, this pan heats very well. Copper, in addition to being nonstick, is also quite a good conductor of heat.

So, this frying pan ends up heating quite evenly too. Add in the fact that you get a pretty solid lid to go along with this frying pan (it is a tempered glass lid) and you end up getting a pretty solid deal.

The biggest annoyance that you are going to encounter with this copper pan from Kock System CS is the fact that both the lid and the handle on the cookware tend to get very hot.

For some reason or another, they just aren’t that temperature resistant. While this is quite annoying, it isn’t a fatal flaw and it obviously doesn’t do too much to detract from the overall good quality of this frying pan.

  • Copper is both a good nonstick material and a good conductor.
  • Durable nonstick coating.
  • Scratch resistant bottom and interior.

  • Lid and handle aren’t really temperature resistant.

Kock System CS Granite Frying Pan

The next piece of cookware that we want to take a look at on for this review list is once again from Kock System CS. You may recall that they made the last frying pan that we reviewed, and it happened to be quite a good piece of cookware.

So, we figured that we would keep going with this brand by going over the Kock System CS Granite Frying Pan. Whereas the last cookware from them was made from copper, this one is made from another quite common material that one tends to see in non-Teflon cookware, which is granite. Granite isn’t really a material that you would associate with cookware, but it actually ends up working well.

We obviously want to start off by talking more about the granite coating used on this cookware as that is probably what most of you are curious about.

The granite coating works a lot better than you would expect. Even without any sort of added lubrications like butter or oil, food like eggs and fish (both of which are very prone to sticking when placed in regular cookware) slide around with ease.

Sadly, while the last frying pan from Kock System CS (the copper one) had quite a durable coating, this frying pan is a bit lacking in that regard. While the granite coating has its advantages, it isn’t quite as resistant to scratching as we would want.

If you have been paying close attention to our reviews, then you know that we place a pretty high emphasis on getting durable cookware, so it definitely ends up being a negative.

  • Colorful design sets it apart.
  • Wooden handle that doesn’t heat up.
  • Granite coating works amazingly.

  • Sadly, granite isn’t quite as durable as some other coating materials.

Carote Nonstick Skillet Frying Pan

While none of the entries on our review list have been all that expensive, we also haven’t reviewed an option that most would consider budget friendly. Well, hopefully that changes with this next review as we are going to be reviewing yet another granite coated nonstick pan in the form of the Carote Nonstick Skillet Frying Pan.

Given that this pan costs in the $10 to $15 range, it is the cheapest nonstick pan that has appeared on our best nonstick pan without Teflon list.

You aren’t going to be saving a fortune or anything by going with this pan, but you can end up saving potentially close to $20 (at the least) and upwards of $40 (at the most). At the same time, despite being so inexpensive, this is still a fairly decent frying pan overall and we would have no issues recommending it to anyone in the market for a cheap alternative to their current Teflon cookware.

  • The cheapest nonstick cookware.
  • Heats consistently enough.
  • Granite coating works well.

  • Also quite prone to scratching damage.

All-Clad Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware Set

For the final review on our best nonstick pan without Teflon list, we want to end off the review list by looking at a cookware set, which is much like how we began the list.

Also, to begin our list we looked at an extremely high-end cookware set and we are once again doing that for this last review. So, exactly what are we reviewing? Well, for this final review we are going to be looking at the All-Clad Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware Set.

As you can probably just tell from the name alone, one of the most impressive aspects of this cookware set is how made each of the individual pieces of cookware is. With a hard anodized aluminum body, this cookware is designed to stand up to just about anything that you can throw at it.

Of course, the purpose of this list is to look at good nonstick cookware, so let’s explain why this cookware set fits the bill. It is equipped with a durable, Teflon-free nonstick coating.

The coating is resistant to scratching and extreme heat, meaning that you can use this cookware without any restrictions (including putting it into the oven). There is absolutely no need to worry that the coating on this cookware is going to wear off.

There are two issues with this cookware set that we want to mention. The first issue is the same one that we mentioned way back at the start of this review list when we looked at the first cookware set in this article, which is that it isn’t really good for anyone who just wants a single piece of cookware.

The second issue is a bit more serious and it has to do with the weight of this cookware set. Each piece of cookware in the All-Clad Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware Set is exceptionally heavy. As you can imagine, this extra weight comes from the hard anodized aluminum construction.

  • Very durable aluminum design.
  • Able to stand up to anything, including scratching and high heat.
  • Oven safe cookware.
  • Large, flat bottom heats evenly.

  • Another option that isn’t good for those who only want a single piece.
  • The cookware is definitely on the heavier side.

Your Guide To Buying A Non Stick Pan Without Teflon

Best Non Stick Pan Without Teflon

Buying cookware is easy, buying nonstick cookware is also easy, but you know what isn’t all that easy, buying cookware that manages to give you a reliable nonstick cooking surface without forcing you to rely on a Teflon coating on the cookware.

Teflon is a cheap, easy to acquire material, so it makes sense that a lot of companies, especially those that are looking to make cheap, widely available cookware. In this buying guide, we are going to talk a bit about what to look for when it comes to buying nonstick Teflon cookware, as well as some things that we think are important to know for when it comes to buying good cookware in general.

Know The Good Alternatives To Teflon

The first thing that we should probably cover in this buying guide is what exactly the best alternatives to Teflon are. A lot of people aren’t familiar with the many different options out there that allow them to get great nonstick cooking performance without having to rely on Teflon. While we did cover this somewhat in our review list above, we wanted to make sure that we went over it again in our buying guide.

Ceramic and Copper

If we had to pick our two most favorite alternatives to Teflon, it would have to be, without a doubt, ceramic and copper. On our best nonstick pan without Teflon list you saw both ceramic coated and copper coated cookware appear a lot.

Why are these coatings so good and why are they our preferred alternative to Teflon? Simply put, we like how they perform, and we think that they bring a great mixture to the table. The coatings are a lot more durable than Teflon, so you don’t have to worry about leaching.

Likewise, the coatings are a lot less likely to degrade over time (copper and ceramic coatings can last years, while even the best Teflon coating is likely to start degrading within 2 years at most).

Is Teflon Poisonous?

One thing that you may be curious about is whether our (and other’s) aversion to Teflon is because it is poisonous. While the answer is no, and you certainly don’t have to run and throw out all your existing Teflon cookware, one thing that you do want to be wary of is what is called leeching.

As you might be able to guess from the name alone, leeching refers to the process of the chemical (in this case Teflon) leaking into your food. This is due to a number of factors, such as the Teflon coating being scraped during cooking and the intense heat causing the coating to begin to degrade.

While Teflon isn’t going to immediately kill you or anything like that, it also has unknown long-term health impacts, so it is best to not find out and instead avoid consuming it all-together. This is why you want nonstick cookware that doesn’t use Teflon.

There are other reasons to avoid Teflon cookware as well. For example, Teflon is not known to be a particularly long-lasting material, meaning that you always have to wonder when the Teflon coating on your cookware will start to fail. As we said before in this buying guide, Teflon coatings rarely last for more than a year or two. This is another big factor that leads to people ditching Teflon.

What Is Important When It Comes To Buying Nonstick Cookware

Obviously, buying nonstick cookware is largely the same as buying literally any other type of cookware. You want to prioritize the same things that you would normally.

Now, if you are familiar with how to buy good cookware already, then you can quit reading. But for those of you who want to learn a bit more about picking out good cookware, here is a quick primer.

When buying cookware you want something thick and flat on the bottom, as this conducts heat the best and it ensures that you don’t have to deal with uneven heating. You also want to ensure that the material that the cookware is made from is a good conductor of heat (of the various metals out there, aluminum is the best one by far).

Finally, you want to consider convenience features like lids, how easy the cookware is to clean, and other things that, while nice to have, aren’t quite essential.

Cookware isn’t a difficult thing to buy, but it can also have a surprising number of pitfalls. Many of you may use your cookware multiple times per day, so you want to make sure that you are using good cookware that makes your life easier not harder.
